About

Hi, I’m Carolina. I launched Media Health Lab in 2026 to explore the intersections of communication and Global Health, bringing together research, practice, and fresh perspectives.

My journey in media and global health began during my MA thesis at Malmö University in Sweden, where I examined how the emergence of Aedes albopictus (tiger mosquito) was represented in news articles and popular media in Germany. Fascinated by the intersections of media, public perception, and health, I pursued opportunities to deepen my engagement with the field, participating in conferences and workshops at Charité Berlin, in Munich, and internationally. I continued my studies with an MA in Anthropology, focusing on how young people interact with AI chatbots as therapeutic tools for mental health support, exploring both the social and technological dimensions of these emerging digital practices.

Additionally, I graduated from the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society - an institute with a strong emphasis on science communication and a partner of the Munich Science Communication Lab. There, I took courses on storytelling for science communication, developed a podcast, and learned from filmmakers, journalists, and scientists how to effectively bridge health, research, and communication.

During my studies, I worked in the creative communications team of a digital health startup, where I developed and produced audiovisual content to make complex medical information accessible to a broad audience.

Media Health Lab marks the next chapter of my journey in health communication, bringing together many of the experts I’ve met over the past few years.
